Delhi Chalo March proposed by the farmers on 13th February
Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have called a farmers' Delhi march on 13th February due to which Both the Punjab and Haryana governments have decided to seal the Punjab and Haryana borders in Ambala, Jind and Fatehabad districts ahead of the farmer's march.
The Haryana government has suspended internet services and bulk SMS in seven districts - Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa on February 13 from 6 am on February 11 to 23:59 pm. Chandigarh to Delhi route have been diverted to alternative routes - Derabassi, Barwala/Ramgarh, Saha, Shahbad, Kurukshetra, or through Panchkula, NH-344 Yamunanagar Indri/Pipli, Karnal.
The farmers intend to travel from the borders of Khanauri-Jind, Ambala-Shambhu, and Dabwali to Delhi. Punjabi farmers, however, would not be permitted to enter Haryana, according to Haryana police. At the Shambhu border in Ambala, police have set up barbed wire, sandbags, concrete blocks, barriers, and other materials. There are fifty companies of central paramilitary forces stationed by the Haryana Police.
Elaborate arrangements to ensure law and order prior to the protest 'Delhi Chalo' proposed by the farmers on 13th February. The Haryana police issued traffic advisory and urged commuters limit or avoid travel on the main roads of the state to urgent situations on 13th February. Section 144 has been enforced in Panchkula. Delhi police is also on high alert regarding the 'Delhi Chalo' March proposed by the farmers and therefore tight security is being maintained on all borders of Delhi.
The farmer's groups, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have called for the March demanding Central government to address demands like ensuring a minimum support price for crops. The farmers are also calling for the adoption of the recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission, pensions for farmers and farm laborers, the cancellation of farm debt, the reversal of police charges, and "justice" for the victims of the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. Meanwhile, the Centre opened a direct line of communication with the farmers inviting them for a second round of discussion on 12th February that is a day before their proposed Delhi Chalo March. A delegation including Piyush Goyal and two other ministers was dispatched to Chandigarh to speak with the leaders of the farmers in an attempt to dissuade them from traveling to Delhi. The leaders declared that while a second round of talks was promised, the Delhi Chalo March will still go ahead.
On 8th February, farmers from Noida held a massive protest march from the Chilla border in Noida in order to seek their demands. The farmers alleged that they have received inadequate compensation for their land by the government. Bharatiya Kisan Ekta Sangh leader Sukhbir Yadav said during the protest that it has been decided that the protest march that will begin from Noida’s Mahamaya flyover and go to Parliament House in Delhi since The Uttar Pradesh government is not considering their demand for 10% of total land acquired for residential purposes, 64.7% hike land compensation, permission for commercial activities on residential plots and other benefits.
