A sub-inspector of the Delhi Police has been suspended and faces disciplinary action after he was captured on camera kicking Muslim men who were performing namaz on the side of a major road in the Inderlok district of Delhi.

Asaduddin Owaisi outraged at this incident, slams Bharatiya Janata party

Asaduddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief slams Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), he said, “The incident has shaken everyone. It tells how much dignity and respect Muslims have, I want to ask the prime minister, BJP people - the man, who was insulted, belongs to which family?”

Following the event, massive protests broke out, and heavy security was sent in to keep the peace. Residents requested that the policeman be held accountable while blocking the route. The Police Post Incharge, who was shown in the video, has been suspended immediately, according to DCP North Manoj Meena.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi shared a video of the incident, saying "This Delhi Police soldier kicking a person while offering namaz probably does not understand the basic principles of humanity. What is this hatred that is filled in the heart of this soldier? Delhi Police is requested to file a case against this official under appropriate sections and terminate his service."

The footage, which has caused a stir on the internet, shows Manoj Tomar, the local police post's supervisor, kicking two guys in the back as they are doing namaz and in the sajda position (a position of prostration). It is stated that because the mosque adjacent to it was completely packed, the men had to recite namaz outside on the road. The officer was also seen pushing the individuals who approached him in another video that went viral.

In a letter to Amit Shah, the Union home minister, Maulana Mahmood Madani, the head of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, said that these kinds of acts "not only deepen a significant trust deficit but also tarnish the country's global reputation." The speaker emphasized the "long-term psychological effects on the Muslim community when law enforcement is involved in the crime."

The viral video was also posted by Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi, who said that the Delhi Police official was ignorant of fundamental human decencies. "Delhi Police is asked to file a case against this soldier under the relevant sections. It appears that this soldier, who kicked someone while doing the Namaz, does not comprehend the fundamentals of humanity. What is the hatred that fills this soldier's heart? Enter and terminate its service."

DCP, Northeast, Joy Tirkey, said in a social media post on X, “The people of the North-East Delhi district have always supported the police in maintaining law and order. We condemn the Inderlok incident. In view of this, strict instructions have been given to all the police personnel. There is an appeal to all the people to maintain social harmony and not pay attention to rumours."
