Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan dismisses Jharkhand Mukti Morcha newly elected leader Champai Soren to form a new government in Jharkhand. Champai Soren had released a video showcasing the support of 43 MLAs on his side to become the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
The leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislative party Champai Soren and other MLAs of the party met CP Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi where they sought permission to form a new government. The governor has assured the process of formation of the new government to begin soon.
Mallikarjun Kharge Congress president shared a video of Jharkhand MLAs of the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and accused governors of hammering nails in the coffin of Indian democracy. "In the House of 81 MLAs, only 41 form a majority. Despite having the support of 48 MLAs, not inviting Champai Soren ji to form the government is clearly contempt of the Constitution and denial of public mandate," Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post in Hindi on X.
Hemant Soren under Judicial Custody
Advocate Manish Singh said that Hemant Soren has been arrested and sent to judicial custody for a day in an alleged land scam case and a demand for 10 days remand was put forward but the order has been reserved and not disclosed yet. He further added that a bench led by the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, agreed to list the matter for hearing on Friday after a mention was made on Soren’s behalf by senior advocate Kapil Sibal.

The President of Kendriya Sarna Samiti, Ajay Tirkey said that 15-20 tribal organisations were participating in this protest and check what's open and what's closed in Jharkhand today. Hemant Soren's plea in the Supreme Court
Hemant Soren's plea in the Supreme Court claimed that the arrest of the petitioner (Hemant Soren) around 10.10pm on 31st January 2024 is illegal and malafide and without jurisdiction. The ruling alliance headed by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has the support of 47 MLAs out of total 81 MLAs of the Assembly and they have elected Champai Soren to be their leader and to take over as new chief minister of the state of Jharkhand pursuant to the resignation of the Petitioner.
Earlier, Hemant Soren had lodged an FIR against the Enforcement Directorate officials over search investigation at his official residence in Delhi under the SC/ST act. The Enforcement Directorate found 36 lakhs in cash and accusable documents during the search investigation.
