Tight Security on 14th February, second day of farmer protest 'Delhi Chalo'
Security remained tight on 14th February as protesting farmers attempted to march to the nation's capital. Numerous police were deployed, while barriers restricted traffic in downtown Delhi and at border crossings with Haryana, which might prove difficult for commuters. Traffic is halted at the borders of Singhu (Delhi-Sonipat) and Tikri (Delhi-Bahadurgarh). Security officers with anti-riot gear are being deployed, and drones are being utilized to monitor the situation. The frontiers of Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur include several levels of barriers, concrete blocks, iron nails, and container walls.
Stones thrown by demonstrators struck 24 police officers, including a deputy superintendent of police, injuring them, according to officials. Farmer activists reported that at the Shambhu border, near Ambala, Haryana, police had also used rubber bullets against protesters, injuring over sixty of them.
According to the police caution, "Owing to various farmer organizations 'Agitation' started from today i.e. 13.02.2024, farmers from adjoining states may try to move towards Delhi by various means to participate in the above-said protest."
Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh have been marching towards Delhi as part of the 'Delhi Chalo' protest, which has been going since 13th February, to voice their concerns. Farmers have called for debt relief, pensions for farmers, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, MSP assurance for all crops, and the retraction of proceedings against previous demonstrators.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators attempted to reach Delhi on Tuesday, but the police prevented them by using tear gas, detain several farmers, and severely barricading border posts. Farmers from Punjab and Haryana who were participating in the protests claimed that the national government had not complied with some of their main requests from earlier demonstrations.
To stop the drone, the farmers were seen flying kites
Using a drone, the Haryana police fired tear gas shells at farmers assembled at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border on Tuesday, February 13, to stop them from marching towards Delhi. In response to the drone, the farmers who were protesting today came up with a novel plan. To stop the drone, the farmers were seen flying kites. Several farmers were seen flying kites close to the drone in several footage taken from the Shambhu border.
