75th Republic Day, 2024 Highlights

President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations of the 75th Republic Day by unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path. Emmanuel Macron, French President attended as the chief guest at India's 75th Republic Day Celebrations. President Droupadi Murmu along with President Macron arrived at Kartavya Path in a 'traditional buggy'.

95 member marching contingent, accompanied by a 33 member band contingent from France participated in the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path and was a major highlight of the show. The band contingent was led by Captain Khourda, the music band played the legions anthem 'Le Boudin', it was followed by a marching contingent led by Captain Noel Louis, followed by the second Infantry regiment of the French Foreign Legion headed by Captain Noel. Two Rafale fighter jets and a Airbus A330-multi-role tanker transport of the French Air and Space Force was flown by a French women pilot while they marched past. With this, India and France celebrated their 25 years of partnership.

The grand parade witnessed all-women Tri-service contingents on the ground for the first time, led by Captain Sandhya Mahla of Military Police, with three supernumerary officers Captian Sharanya Rao, Sub Lieutenant Anshu Yadav and Flight Lieutenant Shrishti Rao. Fifteen women pilots also participated in the Indian Air Force's fly-past. The contingents of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) consisted only of women personnel. All-women Armed Forces Medical Services contingent, led by Major Srishti Khullar with Captain Amba Samant of Army Dental Corps, Surgeon Lieutenant Kanchana of Indian Navy & Flight Lieutenant Dhivya Priya of Indian Air Force. The Indian Air Force (IAF) comprised of 144 airmen and four officers, led by Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur. Squadron Leaders Sumita Yadav and Pratiti Ahluwalia, and Flight Lieutenant Kirti Rohil marched past as supernumerary officers behind the Contingent Commander. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) contingent was led by Assistant Commandant Chunauti Sharma followed by officers of the guard Assistant Commandants Priya Dahiya, Hardik and Pallavi.

 French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to India

Macron landed in Jaipur on 25th January and held a bilateral discussion with Prime Minister Modi. In a social media post, PM Modi said, "Visited Jantar Mantar in Jaipur with President @EmmanuelMacron. This UNESCO World Heritage Site stands as a testament to India's rich heritage in astronomy. It also symbolizes the blend of ancient wisdom and modern science, a shared value that both India and France appreciate." Last year, on July 2023 Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited as the guest of honour at the Bastille Day Parade in France.
